Cowles Visiting Artist Residency | Fall 2024 | Minneapolis, MN

Shakia “The Key” Barron joins the University of Minnesota as a 2024–2025 Cowles Visiting Artist, bringing her expertise in Street and Club dance to students and the wider Twin Cities community. During this two-week residency, Shakia will lead classes, create new work, and engage in dialogue that uplifts the cultural and historical depth of Black social dance forms.
