Hip-House (2022)
Hip-House brings together the foundational movements of Hip-Hop and House dance, which creates a space for the individual and the community. This choreography was performed at the prestigious Bates Dance Festival, where I challenged the dancers not just to execute steps, but to express themselves through the choreography. The combinations progressed from foundational grooves to musically complex patterns, and each dancer was called to bring their own flavor, their own story, and their most authentic self. What makes Hip-House special is that every dancer travels a personal path through the work. You can see their voice, personalities and style woven into the movement. When they come together, it becomes a celebration of unity, of culture, of what these forms are truly about: connection, community, and expression.
