Injustice (2015)
Injustice is a powerful solo work I created in 2015 in response to the ongoing murders of innocent people across the United States, particularly unarmed Black individuals whose lives were taken unjustly. In a time marked by profound grief, rage, and helplessness, this piece became my way of processing and voicing the emotional weight of that moment. It is a physical testimony to the pain, fear, and urgency that many of us felt, and continue to feel. The choreography draws from my embodied truth, blending gesture, repetition, and stillness to highlight the trauma experienced by Black communities. This solo is a call to bear witness, to feel deeply, and to not turn away. It stands as both an act of resistance and remembrance.
Synched Sequence (2014)
Synched Sequence was a choreographic exploration of how deeply connected we can become through movement, emotion, and our intention. I wanted the audience to witness what it looks and feels like when bodies move in harmony, not just through steps, but through energy and presence. This piece was about tuning in to one another so fully that the group begins to move as one. The dancers didn’t just perform together; they listened, responded, and flowed as a collective force.
Spirit Currency (2006)
Spirit Currency was a work I created as the Emerging Choreographer at Bates Dance Festival. This piece was all about the value of community which is the unseen, soulful exchange that happens when people show up for one another. The idea that spirit itself is a kind of currency: we spend it, we share it, we receive it. Through movement, the dancers explored how love, support, and presence can carry someone through hard times, how the people around us can literally fuel the heartbeat that keeps us going. This work held space for joy, vulnerability, and trust, reminding us that true wealth is found in connection, and that community is what sustains the spirit.
