Playing Games

Playing Games (2016)

Playing Games is a lighthearted and joyful solo work that I performed at Bates Dance Festival. This piece was my personal reminder to embrace play as a vital and healing part of the creative process. Created during the height of the Black Lives Matter protests, Playing Games became an outlet for me to process overwhelming emotions by returning to joy, gratitude, and presence. In a time of deep collective grief and urgency, I reminded myself: I woke up this morning. I am alive. I can walk. I can dance. I celebrated the gift of movement and honored the power of dance to lift spirits, release tension, and reconnect us to what’s good.
